I know this topic is probably better suited for a short video, but I feel like ranting about this in the written format. So, I promise to keep it short.
This article is not aimed toward the modern-day wellness product aimed at consumers. Those companies got the notice to do this a long time ago. This is aimed at small and medium-sized med-device companies who have had the same website since their inception and think no one looks at their website on the phone.
So, let’s start with some facts.
- 85% of Americans own a smartphone
- 58% of smartphone users feel more favorable toward companies whose mobile sites or apps remember who they are and their past behavior
I could keep going, but I promised to keep this short. The facts point to people using their phones to look for products and solutions. Nurses/admins/doctors are people, so they probably look for products and solutions on their phones…especially the ones under 45.
Now I know what you will say because I, too, thought the same thing before I converted to believing in the mobile movement.
- These individuals just look for solutions to their work problems during work hours on their computers – Maybe? But probably not. The crucial question is, are you prepared to stake your business on that assumption?
- It will take so much time and money – Don’t quote me on this, but it won’t cost nearly as much as you think it should pay for itself.
There are probably a few others, but let’s keep it short. You need to update your website to be mobile-friendly, and you can’t continue to use the excuse of “We are a med device company. Those other marketing statistics and rules don’t apply to me.”
You will update it eventually; the sooner you do it, the sooner your business will benefit.
So, if you are ready to move forward, just contact your current website designer and tell them you want to “optimize your website for mobile use.” They will know what to do!
